DJ RESUME
I'm Dwight Berry, owner of A Berry Beat Entertainment. I came here from Colorado Springs, where I ran a very successful DJ business in a city with lots of competition and more than 600,000 residents. I've played to private parties of more than 1200 guests.
I've played small parties such as birthdays, to large corporate parties and wedding receptions in some of the finest hotels in the country ... like the five-star Broadmoor Hotel, where movie stars and presidents stayed. I played at popular locations and military bases like the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, and Fort Carson Army Post. Caterers love working with me and how I entertain the guests. Not only do the guests have a ball, but the staff can sometimes be seen "bopping" to the music and fun on the sidelines!
I perform for high school reunions, military balls, anniversaries, party dances, corporate and holiday parties and teen dances, and wedding receptions are my specialty.
Keeping Fit: I believe in keeping fit and my hobbies include karate and boxing workouts to keep my weight and health in check and it helps me to perform as ELVIS or as the Blues Brothers at many of my parties. When I'm not DJing, my wife and I frequently visit Nashville where we can be found on the dance floor. Being involved in dancing gives me an inside edge over other DJ's who don't dance, (most of them). Most DJs are like life guards who never go in the water! It's ironic that they beg you to do something they won't do themselves!
"A Berry Beat Entertainment" - Professional and Seasoned"
- CLASS and ATTIRE - I WEAR A TUXEDO for formal events like receptions, military balls, proms, and special anniversary parties and charity benefits . I display a professional image and presentation. I charm your guests. I am comfortable behind a microphone. CLASS, FUN, and exceeding my client's expectations are my goals.
- My experience as a DJ is different than most DJ's. I videotaped disc jockeys for nearly a decade as a
videographer before I became a DJ. This gave me an edge and a quick jump start over DJ's who like to boast they have been a DJ since birth. I have DJ'd private parties with 1200 in attendance! I came from a city four times the size of Clarksville, where competition was fierce with many disc jockeys, parties were plenty, and pay was excellent. I worked in larger cities with FIVE-STAR hotels like the Broadmoor Hotel, and military bases like the Air Force Academy, Fort Carson, and Peterson AFB. I worked well with reception hall staff and have a keen sense of protocol. I have been to the mountain, (no pun intended, though Pike's Peak was in my back yard), and I bring THAT EXPERIENCE with me to Clarksville.
- DANCING - My wife and I love to dance. When I'm not hosting parties, I'm often found with my wife on a dance floor for a solid 3 to 4 hours for the evening. We drive to Nashville several times each month just to dance. I believe that being involved in dance gives one more insight into working the dance floor. We love to dance and lead by example. My wife and I have a ballroom dancing background, dancing swing, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Night-Club, Fox Trot, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Disco, and country two step. We also dance several line dances.
- PLANNING - I have a detailed Reception Guide for my brides and grooms. It covers all the "do's and don'ts" and "things you really should know". I share my party experiences with the bride about the pros and cons of various types of parties, indoor vs. outdoor, churches vs. hotels, etc., and even info she would NEVER think about when it comes to photographers, coordinators, disc jockeys, reception halls, and more. It's an INSIDE look at what usually gets missed when booking other disc jockeys, covering mistakes and how to avoid them... from someone who works on the inside. I suggest a format for the party and explain my suggestions so they make sense to the bride and I help her tailor the format to a happy conclusion.
- MUSIC - I play a wide selection of music. As for Hip-Hop/RAP, I play the edited versions which are played on public radio. I offer suggestions, (themes), for the dinner music. For dancing, we cover it all! I play the greatest hits of all time...the classics that the other DJ's have forgotten, or don't know about.
- HIGHLIGHTS - For receptions, here will be fun entertainment throughout the day, starting with music to greet your guests, formal introductions, dinner music, dinner traditions and fun, formal dancing, dance mixers, tasteful
fun with the garter and bouquet, all the way to the last dance of the evening where I add my own personal touch.
- HI TECH - I am well past the days of fumbling with CD's! With CD's, its a real chore just keeping music loaded to play! DJ's using CD's spend most of their evening getting the next CD ready, (or just finding it). CD's also scratch. On some floors, like wooden floors, dancers can make the dance floor bounce and cause a CD to skip. I play my music from computer. No skips are possible and I can build a play list of songs and modify it on the fly, playing music with "hands off". If I need to look for a song, I can find it in seconds and have it ready to load or queue. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? It allows me time to concentrate on being a better emcee and focus my attention on YOU and your guests!
- ENTERTAINMENT - For receptions, I have LOTS of ideas to make your party fun. Choose a package with our FUN DJ personality, (most do), to bring your party to a high energy level. I don't just play music. I entertain and charm your guests with lots of fun ideas and dance mixers.
- GAMES - I also have several games which I sometimes will use one as an ice-breaker. This is a fun mode of entertainment to help guests relax and it's another great way for people who do not dance to still be involved.
- DVD PHOTO Slide Show - Touch the hearts of family and friends by reliving your childhood, sharing photo images of the bride and groom as they grow from the baby and toddler years, through early school days, sports, high school and even college days...and finally photos of them dating! Always a hit! This comes with our Brides'Fairytale package!
- ELVIS - Would you like ELVIS to show up for your party? I can have him there in jumpsuit, cape, and glasses, to perform and delight your guests during part of the dinner hour. Elvis is great for any high school reunion from any year.
- ETIQUETTE - With my experience, I'll help you plan your party to be fun and eloquent too. I'll make your guests feel like it is their party because I'll involve them. I'll gracefully lead you through things like the toast, cake cutting, parental dances, and more. I'll do it with style and class ... all the way to your last dance.
- LIGHTING - I bring colorful lighting, strobe lighting, and the famous "mirrored disco ball" to excite your guest with fun music! All of my packages offer lighting. It's that important. I don't want to see a dull dance floor!
